We live in the information age, characterized by the dependence of a sizeable proportion of the global population on technology and the internet. This has created opportunities for online learning and education, with many platforms offering education of a world-class standard. One such platform is Udemy, an online learning platform that provides a wide range of courses in various fields, including information technology (IT), business, and design, amongst others.
The Udemy mobile app allows users to download videos for offline viewing; however, downloading entire courses from a desktop or laptop computer is typically a more complicated process. And I have a difficult time accomplishing this.
I tried more than ten free, paid, online, and desktop Udemy course downloaders, but none worked, even though many websites recommend them.
Troubles Downloading Udemy Courses
There are pretty some udemy course downloaders that claim to be able to download videos from Udemy.com. However, this is not entirely true.
Allavsoft is recommended in top Google searches. However, when I try to download udemy courses on pc, it asks for the password over and over again. Finally, it fails.
The extension Video DownloadHelper, a free udemy video downloader, seems to be working, as it detects the videos for downloading. However, it asks for a companion app. But, after installation, it asks for that over and over again. Maybe you can have a try to see if it works for you.
Why is it so hard to download a video from udemy.com?
Downloading videos from Udemy can be difficult because Udemy has implemented measures to prevent unauthorized downloading of their courses. Some of the reasons why downloading videos from Udemy may be challenging include the following:
Copyright protection: Udemy courses often contain copyrighted material, and downloading videos without the instructor’s permission is illegal and against Udemy’s terms of use.
Technical restrictions: Udemy uses video encryption and digital rights management (DRM) technology to prevent unauthorized downloading of their courses. These technical restrictions can make it difficult to download videos even if you have a legitimate account with Udemy.
Limited downloading options: Not all Udemy courses allow video downloads, and even if a course does allow downloading, the download process may be limited to specific devices or platforms.
Ad-blockers and antivirus software: Some ad-blockers and antivirus software can interfere with video downloads, making it difficult to download videos from Udemy.
In conclusion, downloading videos from Udemy can be challenging due to a combination of copyright protection, technical restrictions, limited downloading options, and interference from ad-blockers and antivirus software. It’s always best to check the instructor’s permissions and Udemy’s terms of use before downloading videos.

Troubleshooting: Download Paid Courses
Some readers report IDM does not download paid courses. I am really sorry for this because I don’t have a paid account for testing. If you still want to download the paid courses, try to enable “Show download panel for protected content which IDM may not download” in IDM options-General and Edit the option “Customize IDM Download panels in browsers” as shown below:
